Kill Target (KT) School
Ahhh! I’m a KT! -- Your enemy wants your
blood? Make them work
for it!!
Want to be a rough and tough KT? If you’re active enough and plan it out
right, you could stay alive while being KT’d for DAYS. I lasted three
days once and finally the enemy gave up and moved on to someone else! The biggest
reason that I lasted so long was because of my military. They would fully possess
me and yet no one could break me, even with all my characters out. There is
so
much emphasis on characters in this game that most people take for granted
the power of military!! Below are some tips on staying alive!
1. Most important!! ONLY build scout towers. If your enemy is throwing tornados
or other land destroying spells, which puts all of your land into “unbuilt” status… leave
it alone or just build scout towers! If your scout towers drop below 20% you
will become extremely vulnerable to assassinate character or having your magic
items stolen by the enemy clan. (The smartest thing to do is to raze all other
buildings so that your scout towers are all you have... if they want you dead
it will happen almost no matter what, but high spy tower defense will dramatically
slow them down.)
TIP: The moment I find out I’m a KT (or GOING to
be a KT); I get my scouts up to 40% by robbing and razing other buildings so
that I can build them into
scouts. It takes a LOT of building destroying spells to get and keep those
scout
towers down!
2. Save up Expansion scrolls and do not use them unless you are under 200 land
if the opposing clan doesn’t have earthquake (Shaman/Nature class). If
they do have earthquake, it’s good to keep your land to around 800. Once
under 200 (or 800) land, just use 1 expansion at a time until you get back up
to around 200 – 250 (800 -850).
Important Note: All attacks from the enemy clan will remove more land per hit
when you’re over 200. If you just use the expansions to keep yourself around
200 land… that will mean your enemies will only get 20 land per hit. That
will mean that they will need more hitters to finish you off! This is why we
say, as long as there aren’t any earthquakers (Shaman/Nature class) in
the opposing clan… it’s good to try to stay around 200 land. Remember
that if the opposing clan went for “Salt of the Earth” as an option
when they waged war… then you will be losing about 24 land per hit when
you’re around 200 land.
3. Remember that you only have 15 scroll attempts per day! Don’t use any
scrolls while being KT’d other than for Expansion.
4. Watch the lag time of your characters. When you can see that you have a
character coming home… TRY TO BE ONLINE! You should try to hit when you can to gain
more land. People are really quick and they will be waiting for the hour change
to try to possess your characters so you can’t use them.
TIP: As you’ve probably noticed, when you click on a link within the game
and it’s exactly on the half hour or hour tick, a white screen appears
telling you this and you have to click to refresh. If you’re on the
kingdom and waiting for the hour to change so that you can quickly hit, you
can do
the following:
1. When there’s a few minutes left in the game,
get your kingdom to the point of spying on a kingdom.
2. Keep refreshing your computer so that it shows the new time at top. Geoff
added seconds so you can see how close it is to the top of the hour. Some people
pull up their computer clock (double click the time in the lower right corner
of your screen) to help them time it perfectly.
3. Wait until 3-4 seconds after the hour change and then proceed with your
attack. I always have my screen right where I’m ready to spy on someone
that way after I spy, I can quickly feed the info into the battle calc and
attack.
5. The ONLY thing you should be building is military and scout towers.
6. Druids – use your characters for expansion only. It’s better
to create an expansion scroll then to just cast the expansion spell on yourself.
This will normally give you more land and you would be able to add the land
to
your kingdom as needed. (See #3)
If you are a kingdom that has wall or swamp – keep those spells current
on yourself.
7. From the beginning of the game, you should be prepping your kingdom for
war. Always have 2-3 expansion scrolls laying around, orbs of recall if possible,
basket of thorns, etc. Also, like I mentioned in the beginning of this topic – don’t
underestimate the power of military!! Start building your military up right
away.
8. Most importantly: HAVE FUN!! Yes, you worked hard on your kingdom to build
it strong… but if you can let go of that and just enjoy the game, you’ll
see that the most fun you’ll have in LoT is when you’re a KT!! It
can be fun and exciting to frustrate your opponents to no end with your survival
skills. I would always fuel the fire with little comments like “Ohh, thanks
for the levels!” if they’d hit me while I had characters home. Or
with failed spells, I’d say, “Is that all you got for me??”.
Have fun with it but - and this is very important - BE RESPECTFUL! No profanity
and for the love of god, do NOT threaten to bust someone’s head through
a window and then slice their neck with glass! (Inside joke)
Demolishing an enemy KT! -- Your clan has declared war!! Here are some tips on
kicking the living crap
out of your KT!!
1. If they are NOT fully possessed, do NOT use any building demolishing spells
like firestorm or tornados unless ordered by your clan to bring down some scout
towers. All you will be doing is leveling their characters which will make
it harder to kill them later.
2. Always fully possess a kingdom before doing opengate, bogs, war spells (exception:
paralysis or mindblast because they work like possession) or any other aggressive
spells. You do not want to be leveling their characters while you are KTing.
Also, your bogs, opengates, and poisons will be more successful when the KT
doesn’t
have characters home to defend them!!
3. Watch the lag time of the characters! If you see one coming home, be prepared
to possess it!! See the tip on timing your attack/spells, which is point #5
under the “Ahhh! I’m a KT” subtopic.
4. BE ACTIVE! If you are a coven leader, message your covenmates and encourage
them to help in the war. A lot of people don’t check the Clan forums
on a daily basis even though they should so they might not know what is going
on!
5. Keep pounding away at the target, even if they are doing an amazing job
at keeping themselves alive. The best thing to do with someone very, very active
is to get him or her down to under 200 land in the late afternoon (after 4pm)
or early morning and then keep on hitting. You may see them using expansion
scrolls
but that’s ok!! Keep on attacking… they’ll run out of their
15 scroll attempts eventually and when they do, you’ll have them! Watch
the time because scroll attempts reset at 4:00pm game time every day.
6. Have fun!! Don’t get discouraged by a kingdom that just won’t
die. Eventually someone will screw up and hey… everyone has to sleep at
some point, right? You’ll get them even if it takes a while.
Character Specific Recommendations during War
During a war, your clan needs to work as a team. In addition to the above “guidelines”… below
are specific things you can do to be as effective as possible for your clan.
First and foremost, always try to make sure the target is possessed/assassinated
prior to doing any offensive spells. Your spells will be more apt to succeed
if they don’t have any characters defending their kingdom. The exception
to this is of course possession, mindblast, and paralysis. Those are all used
to possess a kingdom. Assassinations are awesome because even though you have
low success rates… the KT will not receive any experience whether you
succeed or fail.
Please view the “War
Status” topic for specifics on the spells
mentioned in this section.
Druid – Sphere is your most valuable spell during a war. This has helped
lengthen the longevity of our clans members while they are being KT’d
for hours, if not days. You should always make sure the kingdom in your clan
that is being targeted has sphere first. After that, work together to get sphere
on all of the Shaman, Necro’s, and Leadership in your clan. These are
the ones that may be KT’d first. Demons and the top players/grabbers
in your clan are the next ones that you should make sure have sphere.
If Sphere is cast on possible targets… then cast Overgrowth on the biggest
hitters in the opposing clan. This will give them -40% attack times so that
they attack us less.
Tip for Clan Leadership – if you have a decent amount of Druids and Magi’s
in your clan, it’s good to assign Magi to sphere and Druids to overgrowth!!
Magi – Sphere is your most valuable spell during a war.
Shaman/Nature – EARTHQUAKE EARTHQUAKE EARTHQUAKE!! This is one of these
most important spells in a war short of possession/paralysis. Wait until your
opponent has all characters possessed. Earthquake is the most effective when
the target is below 2K land. A few earthquakes from a decent sized kingdom
could destroy a KT completely. You should be trying to save your shaman for
this spells as you are the ones that help kill off a KT fast. The most difficult
time with a KT is when they are teetering around the 1-2K mark. You get less
land when you hit and it takes more hits to get them down. If you can just
cast 2-3 earthquakes… then the target will be demolished!
When you’re not earthquaking targets….the next best thing you can
do is cast fog on the bigger opposing empires or the ones that seem to be getting
through with assassinations easily. Casting fog on them will limit their ability!
Necros – the war spells have taken a little of the heat off of you but
you are still one of the most important characters in the game. The spell you
should be utilizing all the time while at war is Possession! (Make sure you
DO NOT use lessor possession during war!!) You are the muscle behind making
sure the KT’s are fully possessed. If a target has 3-4 characters home,
you could also use Mindblast. That takes several characters out at once if
successful. Use your judgment. Mindblast has a much longer lag time for your
character but it can be worth it when your target has less than half their
characters home. Do not use Mindblast if your KT only has 1 character home.
It is not worth the lag time. Do possession instead.
Demons – You are built for war and built to be destructive!! Open Gate
is by far your most valuable spell. Make sure the target is completely possessed/assassinated
prior to casting this spells so that it goes the maximum rounds. If a target
is not possessed, you have a great war only spells called Paralysis. It’s
basically the equivalent to possession.
