Arkane Tree

The Arkane Tree is your research page. Unlike other games, you do not need to place scientists, or scholars as they are referred to in LoT, in specific areas to research. Instead, they all work together to generate arkane points each hour. Each scholar you own will generate one arkane point per hour, unless you have a terrain boost or a research boost.

When you have enough arkane points for an item on the arkane tree, known as a “node”, an “Acquire” link will appear. Clicking on that link will complete the research for that specific item or economic boost and it will be immediately applied to your kingdom.

Some nodes cost flat arkane points and some are based on your land size (example: A “Land x 40” node will cost you 40,000 arkane points if you have 1,000 land). The larger you are, the more the land based nodes will cost. In addition, as you obtain your non-land arkane nodes, your arkane multiplier will go up. This Arkane multiplier affects all of your non-land nodes. A 10,000 point node with a 1.4 Arkane multiplier will cost you 14,000 Arkane points.

On the arkane tree, you will find bonuses for your economy, new characters, and spells. You have to acquire some nodes in order for the tree to open up with additional nodes. View your Arkane Tree in it’s entirety by clicking on the Arkane Tree Link, located on the left of this page, to see the path that you need to take to get to certain nodes. Each class has a different Arkane Tree. Some people prefer to make a straight line to their additional characters. Some people prefer getting certain spells or bonuses first.

- Arkane Staff: No unidentified form. Found on the arkane tree for nature, shaman, druid, magi, and feudal. Can not be obtained by fighting monsters -or- by stealing magic items. Gives +50% offense and +50% defense.

You will need to inscribe a “Scroll of Identify” for all magic items that you obtain from monsters. A Scroll of Identify costs 50,000 points. You inscribe this scroll on the Arkane Tree page. It is located as a link at the bottom of this page. When you click on that link, you have inscribed a scroll that will not appear in your “Magic Items” page. Once you are on the Magic Items page, click on the “Use” link under the Scroll of Identify and ALL of your unidentified items will be revealed and be ready to use.

Arkane points can also be spent to inscribe, or create, certain scrolls. This can be done after you have completed researching your entire Arkane Tree. Each class has different scrolls they can create. Rage scrolls cost 250,000 Arkane Points and all the other scrolls cost 500,000 Arkane Points to create them. Demon does not have the ability to create any scrolls at this time.

Scholars can be disbanded and placed back into your population from this page as well. Be CAREFUL that you do not disband all of your scholars. You will need them to continue to inscribe Scrolls of Identify throughout the round as you keep obtaining more magic items.

TIP: When you are first starting out, it is a smart idea to wait to inscribe this scroll until you are out of newbie mode. Your arkane points could best be used for bonuses and obtaining additional characters. You can always identify your magic items at a later date. One Identify scroll will reveal all unidentified items that you currently have... whether it’s one item or twenty items.
