Artifact
A rare magic item that can be used over and over again during the round. There are only 2 of each Artifact in the entire game. To view the list of artifacts and what abilities they grant your kingdom if obtained… check out subtopic “XII Magic Items” under the Left Navigation Menu topic.

BarKeep
The coolest cat in the game. =P This is the person that runs your virtual bar in the clan forums. Be good to them, they will bring you your brewski or, if they’re a good caring bartender, whatever your lil heart desires.
To find out who your clan barkeep is, click on “Clan Forums” on the Left Navigation Menu and he/she will be listed at the top of the forums.

Clan
A group of covens joining together make a clan. Any clan cannot make up more than 25% of the games kingdoms.

Clan Leader
This is just as it states... the person that leads the clan. They make all the final decisions in the operation and issues of a clan. They are a pretty busy person, so it’s best to always to go your Coven Leader Dude for problems and if a situation needs to be escalated to the clan leadership, the Leader Dude will do so.

Coven A group of kingdoms within the same X and Y coordinates. They should be working together to protect each other. Any coven cannot include more than 15 kingdoms.

Diplomat
The Diplomat is someone on the Clans council that has the ability to negotiate with other kingdoms/clans on behalf of the Clan Leader/Clan. They are normally someone who has a cool head on their shoulders and someone who will work vocally to solve a problem before it escalates into a big issue.

Experience
You will hear this term used a lot in the world of LoT. To gain levels and make your characters stronger, you need to gain experience. You can do this several ways which are discussed within this Newbie Guide. The main ways: Spell people, be spelled, attack, be attacked, use your Dark Knight or Hero to thieve and spy, or simply train your character. How to train your character is explained under the “Characters” Subtopic under “Left Navigation Menu”.

Forum
Forums are an easy and efficient way to communicate with your coven and clan mates. The Forums consist of Threads and Posts.

Leader Dude
This is the person that has been elected to lead your coven. I know what you are thinking, yes, Geoff is sexist. Leader Dudes are also sometimes called a Coven Leader. He/she will likely be the one notified if problems arise within the coven. If you have an issue, you should go to this person for help. If they won’t help you... elect a new Leader Dude because they aren’t doing their job!!

Leveling
There are 55 levels to a character. You start out small – each character starts out between level 1 and 3. You gain levels by training and using your characters. You have to meet a certain amount of experience to be granted a new level. Each new level brings more offensive and defensive points to your character. The higher level your character is, the stronger it is.

Magic Item
The BEST part of the game in my opinion. You start off with 2 magic items. They are items that, when used, can boost your economy, boost your characters offense/defense, or are magic spells that can help your kingdom or hinder someone else’s. Magic Items can have permanent effects or temporary effects. Check out the “Magic Items” subtopic under “Left Navigation Menu” for more information on Magic Items!!

Newbie
This term can mean one of two things. If someone calls you a “Noob or Newbie”, they are saying you are new to the game. Hence why this guide is called a “Newbie Guide”. It’s designed for someone who is brand new to the game or just looking for some extra information about a particular part of the game.
Newbie Mode is the other way you will hear the word Newbie. Newbie Mode is what the protection mode is called for EVERYONE that starts a round of LoT. It’s a period of time that protects your kingdom from attacks, spells, and thieving. This is to allow a new kingdom sufficient time to grow. The only exception to Newbie Mode protection is Monsters!! Monsters can hit you during newbie mode and you can hit them as well. This is actually a GREAT thing though because it gives you a chance to gain free experience and levels without worrying about someone out of Newbie Mode being able to attack you for being too open… meaning you can leave yourself open without worrying about repercussions Yay!.

Post
Posting is what you do when you respond to a particular thread. Each thread consists of individual posts by kingdoms.

Thread
A Thread is a topic to discuss or respond to. When you respond to the thread, you just created a post. You can create a new thread in the clan or coven forums which other coven or clanmates can post to.

Vice Clan Leader
Vice Clan Leader is another person on the council of your clan. This is someone designated by the Clan Leader whom can negotiate or solve problems within the clan. Normally a clan leader is allowed to take their clan to war or negotiate peace as well as just problems within the clan. They are the right hand man/woman of the Clan Leader.

Village Idiot
This is an important job in the clan!! Normally people LOVE to be the Village Idiot. A perfect village idiot is someone who can have fun and keep the clan entertained. Sometimes they are considered part of the clans council and at other times, they are just the entertainment. Either way, it’s THE job of all jobs. =) If you become the Village Idiot, have fun with it and keep your forums alive!!

War General
The War General is part of the Council for a clan. The War General is in charge of organizing and planning a war with another clan. They come into play when diplomacy has not worked for one reason or another. They post war targets and negotiate a truce when it comes to that point.
